SEOUL, July 10 (Yonhap) — South Korean artificial intelligence (AI) company iSciLab has won an award at a global summit hosted by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the company said Thursday.
During the AI for Good Global Summit 2025 held from Tuesday in Geneva, the company’s AI-based animal biometrics solution was recognized by the ITU for its innovation and potential impact in supporting the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, according to company officials.
iSciLab said the solution features its own non-invasive biometrics technology that uses facial features and nose patterns of animals. The system enables simpler and more cost-effective registration and tracking of pets and livestock.
Byun Chang-hyun, chief executive officer (CEO) of iSciLab, also delivered a speech during a key session titled « Innovate for Impact: The Winning AI Use Cases » at the summit that is set to end Friday (local time).
« With this award, we will seriously consider the social responsibility and role of technology, and strive for sustainable digital transformation with our global partners, » Byun said. « We will expand our pet, livestock and wildlife identification and history management systems in cooperation with international organizations, including the World Health Organization (WHO). »
