Implant and instruments company Orthomed is partnering with training platform provider Osso VR to provide a “first-of-its-kind training technology” to veterinary surgeons to practise procedures anytime, anywhere.
The goal of the partnership for Orthomed, and its parent company Infiniti Medical, is to offer a full content library of veterinary procedures using Osso VR’s technology.
Widely adopted in the medical sector, the RoVR system will allow vets to “reach proficiency with emerging techniques and medical devices”, with vets able to be trained to gain muscle memory for increasing performance, knowledge and confidence in various procedures.

Jared Finegold, chief executive of Infiniti Medical-Orthomed, said: “RoVR is a valuable new resource for veterinarians to gain exposure and practice in performing surgeries. There is a growing body of evidence that shows that repeated participation in VR training leads to increased confidence and more effective clinical outcomes for our pets.
“We are proud to be the first animal health company offering VR training technology to veterinarians worldwide.”
The first module to be released is for cruciate ligament repair surgery using Orthomed’s canine cruciate repair system.
