PetSmart is launching PetSmart Veterinary Services, an independent business ownership model that offers veterinarians to open a franchised practice, within a store location, and connects pet owners with veterinarians and vet hospital locations within PetSmart stores.
The goal is to boost the number of veterinary medical practices and make it possible for veterinarians to be independent business owners, according to a press release.

These efforts will provide critical veterinary care to the rising number of pets and pet parents and is an important part of our growth strategy to give our customers all the products, services, solutions and care they need within one location, » J.K. PVS will provide each practice owner with built-in resources for marketing, information technology, construction, training, reporting and ongoing consultation. PetSmart operates approximately 1,660 pet stores in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico, as well as more than 200 in-store PetSmart PetsHotel dog and cat boarding facilities
