New survey data has revealed that 81% of Americans would incorporate technology into their pet care routines to reduce veterinary visits.
Pet owners view technology as a practical solution for reducing veterinary costs, which, according to federal statistics, have surged by more than 60% in the past decade.
The survey was conducted by HostingAdvice.com. Other key findings included:
- 87% of pet owners say technology enhances their ability to care for their pets.
- 88% would use a tracking device to monitor a pet’s location.
- 89% expressed interest in using a pet camera while they’re away.
- 79% would use technology to monitor their pet’s health and activity.
- 80% would spend $100 on pet technology products such as smart collars, health trackers and pet cameras.
The survey team stressed the importance of routine annual checkups by a licensed veterinarian and said every tool should be vetted to ensure its safety for owners and pets.
“Choose devices that include additional security features or certifications,” said HostingAdvice security expert Joe Warnimont. “Your pet’s health is important, but so is your safety and privacy.”
HostingAdvice surveyed 500 U.S. adults, of whom 55% were women.
